Drupal Engineer

Location: San Francisco, CA

Department: Professional Services

Type: Full Time

Min. Experience: Experienced

Are you hardwired for problem solving, have a passion for Open Source, code elegant PHP and love Drupal?

Then Work+Habit is the place for you. We're one of the top agencies in the Drupal space and generally live where Drupal intersects with Big Media, Mobile and Infrastructure.

Work+Habit is looking for kickass Engineers. The position will require you to interact with clients, technology partners and other Work+Habit team members, so being able to communicate effectively is essential.

What you should be:

  • Expert at custom development with PHP and MySQL
  • an advanced Drupal 6 and 7 module developer
  • an expertise in developing custom themes in Drupal
  • an active Drupal community member

Required skills and knowledge:

  • A few years of PHP programming, including OO, procedural, and a knowledge of data structures and design patterns
  • 2 or more years developing SQL queries in MySQL or other relational database. This means you know different kinds of joins, can optimize queries, and can explain to us what an index is and why we should use them, at a minimum. If you're a MySQL guru, with loads of experience in - - large datasets and performance queries, you'll be among friends
  • Be able to code XHTML, and have some experience with CSS (it's cool if you're not a rock star at CSS, as long as your php skills are up there - we know the 'brain' split)
  • Javascript, especially jquery. If you're "not a front-end" person, we understand. Still, be ready to learn some if you don't know it already. We have a hacker culture, and we like to learn technology - you should too
  • A strong sense of ethics and personal responsibility
  • Communication skills, especially within small teams
  • Some ability to work within a very independent environment, and great time management skills
  • Experience with Linux or other Unix like OS would be nice
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Fast learner and a self-starter

We know not everyone is going to fit every one of these requirements, but we do want to work with folks who Get It — so if your expertise isn't a perfect match, apply anyway and let's see how you think it can work. This position is full time contract or full time, or contract to full time. If you have some extra cycles, we're open to the right person too.

We're looking for Bay Area candidates in particular right now, but we're open to all sorts, as long as you live in the United States. International candidates need not apply unless you already have plans to relocate to the US.

Benefits

Did we mention that all of our employees get brand new MacBookPro Laptops and comfy chairs? Of course, great healthcare, the sweet ability to work from home or our SF office, and profit-sharing come with the gig as well. And bragging rights, natch.

Other Agencies and recruiters will not be considered. Sorry, principals only.
